Recently, an 8 year old girl was taken from her parents in the night and sexually assaulted by 4 adolescent boys. She is currently in our Delhi Shelter awaiting restoration with her family. She is doing well and is a happy girl despite the trauma she has been through.
We work hard on prevention... in fact, on Monday, Nepali women met in the city of Kathmandu to discuss 'Bhitri Sundarta' clubs (meaning 'inner beauty') as part of our prevention efforts. These clubs encourage self worth among young girls and communities of support to help protect them, and they are volunteer driven!
A Shelter Home is crucial should a young girl find herself at risk, taken, or abused... a safe place to take her in, care for, and restore her. That is our Daughter Project commitment.
